Veteran’s Garage

The Veterans Garage also known as the “Pit Stop” is an 80 year old building with very few tools. The old small air compressor is inadequate for everything except taking lug nuts off a vehicle. Yet we have no air ratchets left that work, so it cannot even do that.

Small pickup truck can fit in the bays but larger ones cannot even get through the doors either widthwise or height wise. small and midsize car fit fairly well however do lack enough room around the engine area to work easily and pulling an engine out is extremely difficult.

We would really like to knock the garage and the building attached to it down and build a large facility that not only the Veterans living at the home can use but those throughout the area. In addition to this we would like to use the facility for training in the trades. Obviously this would include all areas of mechanics but in addition we would like to include the construction trades. Sending Veterans to school for college, computers and the like, is something the federal VA does well. The trades not only offer good pay and benefits but a chance in the future to own your business. We would hope that some of the mechanic classes could either use Veterans cars that need working or that the cars they work on could be given to needed Veterans. This path offers Veterans a chance at the American dream that they fought for the right for all of use to have.
